I am so sorry to announce this
With the weather forecast showing now a 10-20mm of Rain and 5 to 8degrees the DELWP land manager and I have come to the decision that the Sunday Event should not go ahead as planned.
Saturday’s Bella Buxton and Buxton Bootcamp events will continue as scheduled.
Reasons – If we get even the 10mm of rain during the event the trail damage will be significant Under our site permit the Land manager can stop the event at any time and the risk of this happening is too great and we do not want to see trail damage to Buxton. We love it too puch
At 8 degrees as a Maximum temperature with riders waiting to start timed runs the chance of hypothermia or accidents from sever cold is very much increased. Your safety is importnat.
This decision has not come easily. I have gone a few nights without sleep hoping the forecast will change. Today has been spent talking several times with the land manager and the Murrundindi Shire council along with other professional event managers.
Its a tough call but with the current information and the trends of the forecast is the right decision.
The new date will be Saturday April 4th which will be along with our Shifty Fifty event at Buxton on Sunday April 5th
What about a refund?
If you cannot make it or do not want to be at the future event we will provide with NO questions a 100% refund on your entry.
Please do not email me this week though. Still got alot to do.
I will email you next week with instructions for requesting a refund and will act as soon as I can on it.
Big Hill Events is all about the riders. Clearly this is a situation we are not happy with. Furthermore, removing the Hux at Bux income from the weekend now has us incurring heavy losses. But thats how it goes in the event world so we appreciate your support. The event will happen and it will be GREAT
Hux at Bux - FlowDuro - Saturday 4th April
So you think you are the best descender in the field, well prove it. Hux at Bux which is on the Sunday after Bella Buxton and Buxton Boot Camp is a 3 stage FlowDuro. Each stage is between 1 and 2km in length of mostly descending on the brilliant flowing single tracks of Buxton.
We wont be using the Cathedral trail so NO full face helmets are needed. Its about flow and skill.
This is a mixed event however we will be having some ‘Women Only’ time slots for each stage for your benefit.
Suitable for anything from a hardtail to a 150mm travel bike. Choose your weapon!
Each stage finishes at the race village giving you a chance to eat, drink and chat with your mates about your run before heading back off into the trails to reach the start of the next stage.
Want to make a weekend of it? Saturday has two amazing days of racing in the Bella Buxton, Womens only 3hr and then the Buxton Bootcamp, Mens and Mixed 3hr Enduro.
There are two course distance options, the long course of 12-14km for solo, or the 5km shorter option for teams. If Solo isn’t your jam then why not get a few friends together and put a team of 2 or 3 up for the 5km option. You and/or your team will be racing for 3 hours
