Big Hill Events and the Surf Coast MTB Club are excited to introduce the True Grit Surf Coast Gravel Grind, our newest 50km route that starts and finishes at the Anglesea MTB park.
There’s gonna be a super fun gravel grind the next day. The route is quite a variety of surfaces with a large proportion on scenic fire trails with a mix of rollers, sand, loose gravel, a few ruts and a few pinchy climbs to keep you on your toes.
By the end of it, you’ll have 58km with 800+ meters in the legs and will take an average punter around 2.5-4 hours to knock over.
WHAT ABOUT THE LITTLE ONES?
For this event, there is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Gravel loop so with 11kms and only a small amount of challenge this is a great course to get the young ones out and about. With the entry on $30 why not get them involved. Stunning 11km course around the old coal mine. VIEW ROUTE
IS IT A RACE? 🏁
This is a timed event and there will be a podium for those who are keen to race for the choccies, but all riders are welcome and the most important thing is to have fun, and ride it at your own pace.
We’d suggest a gravel bike, or a hardtail MTB to conquer this route. There’s nothing too technical and it’s a fast, flowy descent off the range so stability and control is a must.
Tl;dr: It’s a fun, mixed terrain route
